Friends,

I just came back from the State House where we kicked off the 436th session of the Maryland General Assembly. I am looking forward to my second session as chair of the Appropriations Committee and to participating in important debates about issues important to families in the 43rd including education, economic revitalization in Baltimore, and making our communities safer.

I’ll have many updates in the weeks ahead about the budget, my sponsored legislation for the session, and other issues that may pop up. If there are specific legislative matters of concern to you – or my staff and I can assist you in any way – I hope you will feel free to reach out. My staff and I are here to serve.

On that note, please be aware that the application for my legislative scholarship for the 2016-17 academic year is now available at www.delmaggie.com/scholarship. To be eligible for a Delegate Scholarship, a student must plan to attend a Maryland college or university, or a private career school.  Private career schools must have the Maryland Higher Education Commission’s approval to operate and be accredited by a national accrediting association approved by the US. Department of Education. A student may also attend a nursing school if the Commission approves the curriculum.  Students may attend full or part-time. Please help spread the word!

Thank you again for having confidence in me to represent you in Annapolis.

Sincerely,
maggie sig
